Fireside Dinner

While listening to the radio today, I heard the Christmas song, It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.  It’s the kind of song that you like to belt out when you sing along.  However, I get tripped up on one of the lyrics.

I’ve noticed every time the lyric, “There’ll be parties for hosting, Marshmallows for toasting” is said, I want to say, “Marshmallows for roasting

Does that mess anyone else up, or is that just a weird Susan thing?

Since my mind often chases rabbit trails, the song reminded me of the time we roasted our dinner over the fire.

What better way to get a chore done (cleaning up limbs) than to have it cook your meal, too?

The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever.  We backed the truck up so we’d have a nice spot to sit while fireside…

…and the trampoline made a nice table high enough to stay out of Comet’s reach.  Although, the ants were not to be deterred.  When it was about time to pack it up, they had discovered our stash.

My favorite was roasting…or toasting…the marshmallows.

Carter dug right in.  Katie on the other hand…

She looked a bit concerned.  What is up with my marshmallow?

After close examination…

She finally took a bite.

Ooooo! It was so good, I think I’ll take it for a ride!  Giddy up horsie!
