My New Year’s Resolution was to cut calories, so I’m discovering new ways to tweak recipes in my repertoire. The recipe I tweaked this time was a family favorite – French Bread Pizza. While on the bread aisle, I saw Sandwich Rounds, and immediately thought of thin crust pizzas! I guess I must have really been craving pizza for me to think pizza when I saw Sandwich Rounds, instead of …sandwiches.
This is a great one to get your kids in the kitchen to help you out with! My baby girl had the best time helping Mama. She’s a pro at sprinkling cheese!
The great thing about these pizzas is you can use what you have on hand to make a delicious pizza! I had some deli ham on hand, so that’s what we used this time.
I’ve done just cheese, added veggies, ground beef, or pepperoni. Since they’re individual pizzas, you can customize them very easily to suit each person’s taste!
Make these with any sauce/topping you choose . I have included a handy dandy printable to give you an idea of how I put these together.
Whole Wheat Crust Pizzas
Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes Servings: 6
- 3 Whole Wheat Sandwich Rounds
- 6 Tbsp Pizza Sauce
- 1 1/2 shredded cheese (I like using a mixture of Mozzarella and Cheddar)
- Toppings of your choice
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lay out the sandwich round halves on a sheet pan or pizza stone and top each one with a tablespoon of sauce. Sprinkle with a good amount of cheese, then add toppings. Sprinkle with remainder of cheese. Bake for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and slightly browned.
